The Mud Meme

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger named Miranda from the blog The Times of Miranda. She thanks to Mud for prodding some fodder her way, in the way of a meme. But, it was probably stolen at that blog as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft’s thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Cheers to all us thieves!

1. What are your current obsessions? Facebook (LOL), reading my backlog of books I meant to read during law school, having goofy voice competitions with Pumpkinhead as we read his books before bed and, of course, Mr. V.

2. Which item from your wardrobe do you wear most often? My black suit jacket (works with dresses, slacks, etc., keeps me warm, and looks more professional than my dumpy sweaters).

3. What’s for dinner? Chicken casserole and I’m cooking

4. Last thing you bought? Prescription vitamins, pantyhose and eye makeup at CVS

5. What are you listening to? Brothers & Sisters on my DVR

6. If you were a god/goddess who would you be? Sophia

7. Favorite holiday spots? Still discovering them. I love places with great architecture and history, but also where I can relax and enjoy good food, good company, long walks, etc.

8. Reading right now? The Five Love Languages for Children, latest issue of Brain, Child magazine, “Good Luck” by Whitney Gaskell

9. 4 words to describe yourself Stubborn, loving, generous, compassionate

10. Guilty pleasure? Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches and Dove milk chocolate

11. Who or what makes you laugh until you’re weak? Pumpkinhead and Mr. V. Also Dana Carvey. :-)

12. Planning to travel to next? I have no travel plans, just lots of travel dreams.

13. Best thing you ate or drank lately? Delicious filet mignon at a churascarria

14. When did you last get tipsy? Had a bad night out with Ana with some weird wine that had me puking in the bushes a few months back.

15. Care to share some wisdom? Kiss slowly; forgive quickly.

16. Nicest thing anyone’s ever said to you? Ever? People have complimented me on my intelligence and made me feel proud of my hard work and accomplishments. When I get that from people who really mean a lot to me, that is really validating. But the nicest thing I’ve heard recently was from Mr. V – “…[S]omething’s clicked and something tells me you’re probably going to be one of the neatest people I’ll ever meet.”

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger and blog named Greenish Lady. She states that Becca invited everyone to do it. But, it was probably stolen at that blog as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft’s thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Cheers to all us thieves!

1. What is your current obsession? Actually, I think I am doing amazingly well at keeping life in balance right now and not obsessing over any one thing. That’s amazingly health of me! Yay for progress. :) Although there is a certain guy… Wouldn’t call him an obsession, but when he is on my mind, he definitely keeps it occupied.

2. What’s a good coffee place? I don’t know of a “good” coffee place near me. Lately good = convenient = Starbucks. I tend to prefer small local establishments.

3. Who was the last person that you hugged? My son

4. Do you nap a lot? I tend to nap on weekends.

10. Name three things that you could not live without. Books, chocolate, love

11. What would you like in your hands right now? Honestly, Mr. V. Or a big bar of chocolate. Neither of which I have close at hand.

12. What’s one of your guilty pleasures? Massage

13. What would you change or eliminate about yourself? My tendency to worry or obsess about EVERYTHING.

14. As a child, what type of career did you want? I wanted to be a psychologist until I realized that I take people’s problems on myself and that it would be too hard on me to do that as a career.

15. What are you missing right now? My grandparents. We had a family party and it is always sad or, more specifically, just not as happy, without them there to join us.

16. What are you currently reading? I have a stack of books that I want to get to, none of which I have started. Bad, bad!!

17. What do you fear the most? My child being hurt or worse. Can barely watch the news anymore without crying.

18. What’s the best movie that you’ve seen recently? Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It was amazing – between the costumes, the beautiful scenery, the historic references and the humorous, romantic and touching storyline, I highly recommend that everyone watch this movie.

19. What’s your favorite book from the past year? Well 2008 was a year of rediscovery and I was also in law school at night so I didn’t do a lot of “fun” reading. Read a LOT of self-help books. My absolute favorite was Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of Your Life

20. Is there a comfort food from your childhood that you still enjoy? Porridge

Sunday Stealing: The Ginormous Meme

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim’s post. (It’s our way of saying “Thanks!”) We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme’s best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme. Let’s go!

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger called Sama at Lazy Artist Girl. She doesn’t say from where she stole it. But, it was probably stolen at that blog as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft’s thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

1. Are you single? Yes

2. Are your parents still married? Yes. They believe that God joins two people for life and that there is nothing you cannot work through.

3. Are you in love? No.

4. Do you believe in love at first sight? I’m not sure.

5. Who ended your last relationship? Well, he technically ended it when he got violent in front of our son. I formally ended it by filing for divorce the next workday.

6. Have you ever been hurt by a breakup? Of course. Every breakup hurts.

7. Have you ever broken someone’s heart? Yes, I’m sure I have.

8. Have you ever had a secret admirer? If I have, they haven’t told me.

9. Prefer love or lust? Love

10. Prefer a few best friends or many regular friends? A few best friends

11. Wild night out or romantic night in? Romantic night in

12. Back in the day: Been caught sneaking out? Never caught… ;) (Actually never had to sneak because I never had a curfew)

14. Who are/is your best friend(s)? Ashante

15. Ever wanted to disappear? Often

16. First attraction: Smile or eyes? Eyes

17. Prefer intelligence or attraction? Intelligence

18. Last phone call you received? My Dad

19. Last thing you drank? Water

20. Before your current one, when was your last relationship? My last relationship was with Blue Eyes, which ended Valentine’s Day weekend. I’m not in a current relationship.

21. Do you and your family get along? Define “get along.” Yes, I suppose we do.

22. Would you say you have a “screwed up life”? No, I’d say I have a life with a lot of moving parts.

23. Have you ever gotten kicked out somewhere? If yes, do tell. I got kicked out of a restaurant in Germany because I was with a group of loud American teenagers and the owners hated Americans (and, perhaps, teenagers). I told them we were Canadian and they let us back in with promises of silence.

24. Do you trust all your friends? No, having a hard time with trusting most people 100% since my marriage ended.

25. Who knows the most about you? Probably my blog readers. LOL. Seriously, though, maybe my mother? I’ve moved a lot so I don’t know that any one person knows everything. My ex-husband, perhaps?

Cheers to all us thieves! Visit Sunday Stealing to sign the Mr. Linky and visit other participants’ blogs.

1. What is your favorite sit-down restaurant?
I don’t have a particular favorite but I always enjoy the soup and salad combo at Olive Garden.

2. What food could you eat for 2 weeks straight and not get sick of it? Chocolate. I also love grilled veggies and I do a great mix of sauteed spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms in balsamic vinegar. YUM!

3. Have you ever had anything removed from your body? Ha. Yes! Spleen, Appendix, Tonsils, Adenoids, Gall Bladder, Sphenoid, Ethnoid, part of my liver, lymph nodes, a few nerves (biopsy), bone marrow (biospy), white blood cells (apheresis), etc., etc., etc.

4. What is the last heavy item you lifted? Full bookshelf (moved it across my room)

5. Have you ever been knocked unconscious? Yes

6. If it were possible, would you want to know the day you were going to die? I’m an inherent worrier. I think that knowledge would be much more of a burden than a comfort.

7. If you could change your name, what would you change it to? Bronwyn. My parents were going to name me that originally but my American grandparents balked.

8. What’s your goal for the year? Make it through; come out stronger.

9. Last person you hugged? My son

10. First place you went this morning? Bathroom. ;)

11. Do you always answer your phone? No

12. It’s four in the morning and you get a text message, who is it? My brother or a random male friend. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a 4am text from a female. LOL!

13. If you could change your eye color what would it be? I love my Hazel eyes. I guess I would change them to blue if I could but I really wouldn’t.

14. What’s on your wish list for your birthday? I would like a Kindle.

15. Does the future make you more nervous or excited? Excited!

16. Do you have any saved texts? Yes.

17. Ever been in a car wreck? Yes, my family and I hit a cow on the day we were driving to the airport to move to another country. Then the day after I got my first car at 19, I turned right in front of a porsche.

18. Do you have an accent? Depends on who you ask. When I was in Germany, the Germans could tell I wasn’t a native American. But most Americans can’t tell anymore since I lost my accent.

19. What was the last song to make you cry?

20. What did you do last night? Cleaned my room so that Chapin and my Dad could move a bunch of furniture out to the new storage facility. Chapin has to go through the stuff I packed up while he left the country and see if he can find some items he is missing.

21. Have you ever felt like you hit rock bottom? Oh yes. 2008 was definitely a rock bottom year.

22. Current hate right now? Men. I’m having a hard time believing there are men out there who can really be faithful for life, love one woman, show her how they feel and give her what she needs. But, hey, that has a lot to do with my own issues, too. Working on it.

23. Met someone who changed your life? I meet life changing people all the time. I definitely think there are angels among us.

24. How did you bring in the New Year? I took my then-boyfriend and his daughters to a Brazilian restaurant and then we went to an entertainment center for a night of bowling, mini golf, arcade games, etc.

25. What song represents you? “Why Walk When You Can Fly” by Mary Chapin Carpenter and, especially this year, “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child

And if you asked me a year ago, it probably would have been “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her” by Mary Chapin Carpenter

Sunday Stealing: The Stolen Sex Meme

In honor of my recent breakup with Blue Eyes, I though this week’s Sunday Stealing meme was especially appropriate. May as well remember what I liked about sex while it’s somewhat fresh in my mind.

1. Is there any one of your friends that you would ever consider having sex with? Sure, better to have sex with a friend than a stranger.

2. Sex in the morning, afternoon or night? Anytime is a good time, but I prefer morning or afternoon because it tends to energize me rather than wear me out.

3. What side of the bed do you sleep on? Left

4. Have you ever taken your clothes off for money? Not unless you count strip poker. Although I do think I was offered some money freshman year in college to put them back on after one particularly bad night streaking across campus in lingerie with my suitemate. :???:

5. Have you ever had sex in the shower or the bath? Yes

6. Do you watch/read pornography? Yes, but apparently this makes me an odd girl.

7. Do you want someone aggressive or passive in bed? Both. Aggressive at the right times; passive at the right times.

8. Do you love someone on your blogroll? No

9. Would you choose love or money? Love, hands down.

10. Your top three favorite kinks in bed? That’s for me to know and the men who sleep with me to find out.

11. Has anyone ever gone beyond your personal line of respect sexually? Yes, I was raped when I was a teenager.

12. Where is the most romantic place you have had sex? Under the stars

13. Where is the weirdest place you have had sex? Up against the back of an outhouse in the middle of a field surrounded by pigs and cows (ties for weirdest with the middle of a public park in DC surrounded by homeless men on park benches and random strangers on the nearby streets).

14. Have you ever been caught having sex? Not unless you count the homeless guys in the park in DC. But they didn’t really “catch” us.

15. Ever been to a bar just to get sex? No. I’ve only ever had sex with people I know.

16. Ever been picked up in a bar? Nope. Guess I need to get out there, huh?

17. Have you ever kissed or had sex with someone of the same sex? My girlfriends and I all kissed each other when we were about 8 to see what a kiss felt like. It was weird and waaayyy too much teeth. That is all.

18. Had sex in a movie theater? Define sex…

20. Had sex in a bathroom? Yes

21. Have you ever had sex at work? No, but it’s a fantasy. Probably never would actually do it though.

22. Bought something from an adult store? Um,
hell yeah

23. Do you own any sex toys?
See #22

24. Does anyone have naughty pics of you or are you on film? Yes to pics; no to film. But I have many, many more of them. TMI – Getting men to send you pictures of themselves naked or hop on a webcam is surprisingly easy.

25. Have you ever had sex with someone and called them the wrong name? Yes. I once called my ex-husband my son’s name during sex but it was totally innocuous and related to him jabbing me with his elbow. Knee-jerk reaction.

26. Do you think oral sex constitutes as a form of intercourse? Yes, it is very intimate.

27. What’s your favorite sexual position? Again, that’s between me and the people I sleep with.

28. What’s your favorite sex act? Again, that’s between me and the people I sleep with.

29. Have you ever had sex with more than one person at a time? No.

30. How many Sunday Stealing players do you think will not post this meme this week? A lot! People are surprisingly prudish about these things.

Stolen from LS Part-Timer, who stole it from New Kid on the Hallway.

1.) Challenger space shuttle exploded (1986): I was in New Zealand. Wasn’t really on my radar screen.

2.) Berlin Wall falls down (1989): In NZ. Young. I remember it, but not well enough to really remember much except the images from the news.

3.) Oklahoma City federal building bombing (1995): In high school in Pennsylvania. I remember watching the news. That was pretty upsetting.

4.) OJ Verdict (1995): I was in high school with my favorite social studies teacher. They stopped classes and announced the verdict over the loud speakers.

5.) Princess Diana dies (1997): I know EXACTLY where I was. I was in Georgetown University Hospital recovering from a spleenectomy, in pain and unable to sleep, and watched it from the first news reports until they reported her death. I was really upset. Then my whole family watched the funeral once I was released from the hospital.

6.) Columbine massacre (1999): I must have been in New Mexico. I remember watching the coverage but I don’t remember when I first heard or what I was doing.

7.) JFK Jr. Plane crash (1999): I remember hearing it on the news and feeling sad for the woman who was getting married and would always associate her cousin’s death with her marriage. :(

8.) Bush/Gore crazy election (2000): This was the first time I voted. I was convinced I was jinxed after that. Damn Bush. Grr.

9.) September 11, (2001): I was living in Alexandria, VA a few miles up the road from the Pentagon. I was home sick and woke up to the Today show and the second plane hitting. Then I literally felt my apartment shake as fighter jets were scrambled. It was probably the scariest day of my life. My Dad was supposed to be at the State Department for a meeting and there were rumors that it was a target. It took my husband almost 6 hours to get home when it should have taken only 45 minutes tops. It was an extraordinarily scary day, followed by weeks of horror made worse by the most unimaginable smell of death and fire and evil coming out of the Pentagon. I used to drive right by where it hit every day until they closed that section of the highway off after the plane hit.

10.) Space ship Columbia disintegrates (2003): I was pregnant with Pumpkinhead and don’t remember much about this.

11.) Hurricane Katrina hits (2005): Katrina hit as we were packing up our house in DC. The days we drove from DC to Texas were the days when New Orleans was flooding. When we hit the Texas border, people started inviting us in and offering us free food (our cars were loaded with stuff so they must have mistaken us for refugees). With Pumpkinhead in the car and just listening to kids’ music, CDs or watching his DVDs, we had absolutely no idea what was going on out in the real world. Talk about a shock!

Sunday Stealing: The Cannon Fodder Meme

1. Is there someone you’d like to be kissing right now? Yes, but he came over and gave me a kiss tonight to tide me over. ;)

2. When you’re being extremely quiet, what does it mean? Usually that I am pissed. Sometimes that I am hurting.

3. What are you listening to right now? The Closer

4. Are you a big fan of thunderstorms? No strong feelings either way.

5. Do you believe in perfect? No, I believe we are all flawed in many ways.

6. Are you a jealous person? Somewhat.

7. What was the first thing you thought this morning? Ow.

8. What do you think about when you are falling asleep? Too many things. It’s hard to get my mind to stop and usually I cannot find a comfortable position so it takes a while to fall asleep.

9. Are you satisfied with what you have in life? Somewhat. There are achievements or tangible things I would like to have but I am satisfied with where I am right now.

10. Do people ever think that you’re either older or younger than you actually are? People have always thought I am much older than I am. My best gay friends would take me to the gay bars at 17/18/19 and I was never carded. Kids in middle school/high school always thought I was the teacher (I was tall and large and back then there were only work clothes for bigger kids). At 30, I may finally be catching up to myself.

11. Do you think men truly understand women? Hell no!!

12. How about women understanding men? Probably not, considering how many nights I sit alone confounded and trying to figure out a “deeper meaning” to a man’s behavior.

13. Did anybody ever call you handsome or beautiful? Yes

14. What is one fact about the last person that called you? He has a great sense of humor

15. Other than your current one, what’s the longest relationship you have had? My marriage was 8 years. We dated for a year beforehand so 9 years total. My longest dating relationship was a year.

Okay, so it is not Sunday. But here’s the meme from the 21st. Visit Sunday Stealing to get a copy for your blog and sign the Mr. Linky:

1. What is a nickname a former (or present) lover gave you? Gatita (means little kitty, because of my hazel eyes and my love of stretching/cuddling), also Margarita

2. How do you style your hair? If you just would say “cut” what style is it? It’s a shoulder-length layered cut. I am lazy. Usually I blow dry and flat iron it every day but my preference would be air dry with the windows rolled down as I drive.

3. What’s your least favorite Christmas song? Jingle Bells

4. How many colors are you wearing now? Three

5. Are you an introvert or extrovert? Extrovert

6. What was the last book you read? Manslations: Decoding the Secret Language of Men by Jeff Mac

7. What’s one piece of fiction that changed your life? I cannot pick one. Blubber by Judy Blume (okay, anything by Judy Blume) which made me feel understood; Operating Instructions: A Journal of My Son’s First Year by Anne Lamott, which I read several years before I had Pumpkinhead. The writing really grabbed me and made me say WOW! I adore Anne Lamott.

8. If you are attracted to someone who is already in a relationship (or married), what might do you do? I’d like to say that I would resist the attraction. Having been on the cheated on side of that stick, I’m not sure I could live with myself. I also think that someone who is willing to give up their marriage or relationship up for me would probably do the same to me and I would deserve it. Karma’s a bitch.

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy recently? Ha! Do you have a few hours?

10. What’s your favorite dessert? Anything that mixes chocolate and fruit

11. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? About an hour mostly because I have to do a lot with Pumpkinhead in between flying around doing my stuff.

12. Name one website that you visit daily. Why do you read it? NY Times, to keep up with the latest news and to read the editorials. I like the way the site is designed as well – very user-friendly.

13. What was your last job before either your are at home or at another job?? I don’t understand this question. But I have been working at least one job, if not two, since I was 16. My last job was as a legal secretary at a large law firm. My first job was as a behavioral therapist for an autistic child (met with him four days a week to do his behavioral therapy as taught by his mother and psychiatrist).

14. Do you like to clean? No way.

15. What was the last song to get stuck in your head? I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas

16. What’s the last movie you saw? Yes Man
starring Jim Carrey. Soooo funny!!

17. Pirates or Ninjas? Pirates are hot but Ninjas seem much less dirty. Hard choice!

18. What is your least favorite thing to do that you have to do everyday? Get up

19. Best time of your life? Anytime I am playing with my son. I don’t know that I’ve reached the best period in my life yet. I turn 30 on Sunday so maybe it’s coming?

20. What are you most looking forward to in the coming year? I’d like to think I will get a handle on life, figure out what I want, what I’m doing, where I’m going, etc., but I just do not know. So I’m just looking forward to a year of nothing else going horribly wrong. Or at least hoping desperately for that kind of year. There are a lot of work-related initiatives I am super excited about and hopeful that they will turn out as well as I want them to since they are kind of on my shoulders. That would be a “look forward” item.
