Had an awesome massage but apparently this is supposed to be a bad day for me. The Dude texted me this morning asking if we could get together tonight. We talked on the phone to firm it up. But when push came to shove, he bailed. Mind you, I bailed on him Friday, too, but I gave him three hours notice. He gave me no notice. We were supposed to meet about 45 minutes ago and no word from the asshole. So he’s off my FWB list because that’s not friendly or respectful. And Mr. Experimental has his daughter until Thursday so my nice “night off” while Pumpkinhead is with his Daddy has turned into a night off at home catching up on my DVR. Oh well.

Well I sort of buy that. But I think the columnist at the New York Times who wrote about this trend misses something important. A lot of people spend time communicating online or through social networking so they have “dated” in a sense before they sleep together. In our over-scheduled lives, especially for single parents, it’s often hard to find people you connect with. So if you meet a guy at your kid’s soccer game or in a coffee shop and you just can’t find time to connect again except online, I can totally see how you might find yourself a month later (after phone conversations, texting and, um, webchats
) meeting him for sex before you move on to the time-suck that is “dating”. I KNOW this is not uncommon (okay, fine, been there!). Speak up other single parents. Validate my theory.
