Commenter Jill says my blog posts didn’t make my current living situation clear. So here’s the update:
Crazy Roomie went nuts right over Memorial Day weekend when I was dealing with my Aunt’s death. Did lots of insane things like threaten litigation and call me DURING THE FUNERAL to scream at me. Ugh. Long story short, I told Mr. V I would find something else. He said “Screw that, either way Crazy Roomie is going to be a nightmare” and evicted her.* Actually she had never signed a lease, had moved in two weeks early (yanking her oldest out of school!!!), etc. She ruined the carpets (huge soda stains), stole all the new paint and several fixtures and basically made our lives hell, but she left. (*If I didn’t make it clear before, this house that she was renting belongs to Mr. V’s parents and will be their retirement home in a few years when they move here.)
Anyway, I moved in but knew I could not afford the whole rent so I started to look for a roommate. Turns out I ended up with a couple and their seven year-old daughter. Not ideal in theory, but it’s actually worked out great. Their daughter shares a room with Pumpkinhead and they go to the same daycare. I do dropoff and they do pickup, which is a huge relief for me work-wise. Then Pumpkinhead and I spend most evenings at Mr. V’s sharing a meal (cooking there or eating out) and then relaxing after dinner before heading home. So it’s almost like Roomies have the house to themselves. So far, almost a month in, so good!

That sounds so much better than Crazy Roomie. Hope it continues to work out!
