Welcome readers from 5 Minutes for Mom’s Annual Ultimate Blog Party. Last year’s celebration was a lot more fun around here. This year’s been a bit of a downer as I recover from a divorce last summer and try to find “me” and learn to be okay with being single after eight years of marriage. So, visitors, I’m going to ask you to do this Mom a favor. Tell me about one activity that you really love doing. Maybe you do it alone, maybe with kids, but it’s something you do that you love and it’s fairly easy to get started doing. Help me get out there and start learning how to hang out with myself!

1) I am 30 years old and a dual citizen of New Zealand/United States

3) Was a part-time law student at night until December; 34 credits under my belt and it looks like I will be putting it on hold.
4) Have a great job in the legal department of a large corporation. Love my work and just got offered the chance to take on more responsibility (hence the pause button on law school – that and the extra debt with no guaranteed payoff right now…)
5) Medically nutty (Don’t have any “extra” organs left, had a RNY gastric bypass 8 years ago, have peripheral neuropathy, fibromyalgia, malnutrition, etc. Just a ton of fun to be around. Just make sure I take my CrazyMedz and I will be fine.)
6) My son is a genius (okay, so I’m his Mom, but he loves to read and does it well, sings at the top of his lungs everywhere we go and writes me beautiful e-mails and love letters).
7) The best thing I did after my divorce was to get a kitten. Shirley the Cool Cat cuddles with me and my son every time either of us is down. She greets us at the door, talks to us, cuddles us, and generally keeps us company during this hard year.
The best purchase I ever made as a Mom was a Dyson. Bought it when Pumpkinhead was three months old. I LOVE my vacuum cleaner. Awesome customer service, easy to clean, yay, yay, yay. Worth every penny!
9) I’m trying to get re-involved in church right now and am starting to remember all the things I used to enjoy about having that community around me.
10) I’m also dipping my toes in and out of the dating pool. It’s scalding… Baby steps.
