That’s Just Me Getting Over You

That’s Just Me Getting Over You by Sarah Johns

If I drink too much
If I live it up
If you hear me laughin’
From across the room
That’s just me baby
Gettin’ over you

If I’m out at night
With my jeans too tight
Lookin’ hot as hell
In these high heel shoes
Oh that’s just me baby
Gettin’ over you

That’s just me movin’ on
What’d you think I’d just sit home?
If I look outta place
Without those tears runnin’ down my face
If you feel like it’s a little too soon
I’m just doin’ what I have to do
That’s just me baby
Gettin’ over you

If a stranger smiles
And it’s been a while
If I lead him on and not follow through
That’s just me babe
Gettin’ over you

That’s just me movin’ on
What’d you think I’d just sit home
If I look outta place
Without those tears runnin’ down my face
If you feel like it’s a little too soon
I’m just doin’ what I have to do
That’s just me baby
Gettin’ over you

Mommy Guilt

12 Mar

I bow down to my son, the super master king of guilt trips, who totally got me this morning. I had a jam-packed day at work, as usual. On Monday night we received a note that his class would be singing in a show today at 2. I told him his Mimi would go. He seemed fine. This morning as we were leaving, he fell to the floor in hysterics and basically said, “You’re never there for me.”   Way to kick me where it counts, kid.

So I was late to work and got in trouble (huge meeting, boss had to print agendas and some materials, very embarassing) and then had to leave early. Lovely. But I put the kid first. Then it was pouring rain so I arrived at 2:09… they were done. I was so bummed, but I lied to Pumpkinhead and told him I was standing in the back because it was crowded (my mom, aunt and great-aunt were up front and he was pretty upset because he didn’t see me, hence the lie). Geez. I think we recovered some when I took him to the school book fair and bought him a bunch of books as well as some for his teacher (in part to make up for his bad mood all day, plus I forgot his meds and had TWO voicemails from her when I got out of my meetings!). When we got home from school, we cuddled and read but he was still grouchy, refused dinner, etc., until I threw him in a bath and told him to read in his bed on time out. Now it’s 7:13 and he is passed out. I think he was just over-tired. Or he’s coming down with something. Boo hiss.

As for me, my parents are here watching sleepy guy so I am dressed up and headed out to meet Mr. Experimental for margaritas and more…
