In the Now

18 Jan

I spent most of yesterday in bed. Bailed on a single parents/kids dinner that my friend had invited us to and just slept. Then around 8, Pumpkinhead and I went over to Blue Eyes’ house and hung out there for a while and then stayed over. I couldn’t sleep. My arms were burning, my leg muscles/nerves kept twitching and I kept getting cramps in my calves. It was horrible. This morning I dragged us to church because we missed last week but just barely made it through. Dropped Pumpkinhead off with his Dad for a few hours and now I am back home and about to crawl into bed.

I was looking back at this time last year when I was experiencing similar severe pain. I wonder if the extra pain, unmanaged by the medication, is exacerbated by the weather changes? Once I rest this afternoon, I’m going to pick up my Eckhart Tolle audiobook as recommended by last year’s new age therapist and try to use her “in the now” meditations to get my mind off the pain since painkillers don’t really work and wallowing won’t help.

Thanks to everyone who pointed out that if my teacher didn’t care, she wouldn’t have said anything. And to Ana for calling me on the fact that that was the paper that, even though I really wanted to do a great job on it, I couldn’t get motivated to put pen to paper on until the last week. I pulled several all-nighters and ended up rushing more than I should have. I know the teacher is right about the paper. I’m just disappointed in myself. I have never been like this before in my life.
