Me and my Blue Eyes

14 Dec

Wanna see my picture? Well I’m gonna pull a New Duck and give you a 24-hour look at me and my guy. Since my whole section probably knows who I am after I posted my little “classmate is an asshole” rant on Friday, it’s not like it’s news.
So, first off, here is a picture Blue Eyes took today that he says he LOVES (yes, allcaps, so I guess he really means it!):

[Sorry, you missed the 24-hour picture window]

Anyway, I had a blast this weekend at the two Christmas parties. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been to a Christmas party! Chapin and I would go to my firm’s formal dinner when I lived in DC but I was always on edge because if I smiled the wrong way or said something he considered to be flirtatious, I’d hear about it the whole way home. Either way, he would always bitch so much about having to actually go be social that it would kill any joy I’d gotten out of the evening. Which is funny because he’s actually a pretty “sociable” guy. You would never know if you met him that he was like that behind closed doors.

Anyway, to illustrate the contrast between Blue Eyes and Chapin, I present for you Exhibit A. The guy is Blue Eyes’ brother (yep, they both have blue eyes – hubba, hubba!). A little while into the party, he and I took a formal picture together to test Blue Eyes’ camera. Then he said, “Hey, lemme have your leg a sec.” And Blue Eyes snapped away.

[Sorry, you missed the 24-hour picture window]

Next up is the liquor tree, which I thought was a hilarious idea! They had a gameroom with a pool table, a flat screen TV and a little Christmas tree decorated with miniature liquor bottles. They had people come up and pick their bottle to make drinks. Ha!

And now, here’s me and my guy (this was taken at the end of the night so we’re both looking kind of sleepy, but that’s because we had a blast):

[Sorry, you missed the 24-hour picture window]

Blue Eyes crashed with me last night and then went home for a few hours to upload the pics he took of the event (he was working the event – former pro photographer). Then late this afternoon we went to a Christmas party for one of the doctors Blue Eyes works with. They had amazing Indian food, fun Christmas music, a gorgeous pool and outdoor seating area and just a great relaxed atmosphere. Now it’s 9:02 p.m. and I am back home diving back into my paper. Hope you all like the pics. ;) Sorry for those of you who were expecting a sexpot. LOL. Or a girl with three eyes, two warts and some nasty teeth. ;)

It was a great weekend…. :) Just what I needed.

Sunday Stealing: The Christmas Meme

14 Dec

Head on over to Sunday Stealing to see more meme participants or join the fun yourself.

Sunday Stealing: The Christmas Meme

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper. I hate spending $4 on a gift bag when I could just spend that money on more present!

2. Real tree or Artificial? Don’t kill the poor trees! Artificial (although this year it is real because I live with my parents and I don’t get to choose…

3. When do you put up the tree? When we get to it. My parents bought it at Thanksgiving and it is still sitting outside in a bucket of water. That’s because I am too damn busy, my father is too damn depressed or manic or WTF ever, and my mother “can’t do it all (!! insert martyr voice here)”. Meanwhile my son sits and stares longingly at the tree outside. :???:

4. When do you take the tree down? See above. Could be May this year…

5. Do you like eggnog? I do but it makes me sick because of me rerouted stomach. So I drink Nog by Silk (soy eggnog) in small doses.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Books! :)

7. Hardest person to buy for? My father

8. Easiest person to buy for? My son

9. Do you have a nativity scene? No

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail, with a Christmas letter, of course!

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? My ex-husband gave me a stuffed animal with fake plastic flowers attached and flashing neon lights. I hate kitsch.

12. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Lamb, green beans, roasted potatoes

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Usually when I remember that it’s coming and I go “Oh, shit, I’d better get started!!”

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? No

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Food. All food is good. Love Ham.

16. Lights on the tree? Yes? I like colored lights, white lights, all lights.

17. Favorite Christmas song? O Holy Night

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Stay home

19. Angel on the tree top or a star? Angel

20. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning. After family party and midnight service at church, I am usually too tired for presents.

P.S. Yes, I am going to tell you all about my fun holiday party last night (and the one this afternoon) and I may even post a pic (!!) but I am waiting for Blue Eyes to send me some… And he’s watching “the game”. Harumph. So it might be later tonight or tomorrow.
