Hear, hear! I just wanted to say that I love the honesty of your blog. You also make me genuinely laugh, so thank you. In terms of whatever happened to prompt this post, I like your attitude toward the issue. Not only are people insecure, but they also have a lot of emptiness in their lives. It certainly takes a lot more energy to be mean-spirited, than to be kind.

This is a lot closer to where I am about it now, which is why I think the blog is better lately. (“Better” with me a relative.) When I am paranoid, I write less and less well.

Sounds like a pretty good attitude about all of it. And I’m with you on the belief that people are inherently good and that those people who are mean are really struggling with insecurity. I’ve always felt that way. I can’t say that it always means I handle it well, but I try to remind myself when I get all cranky about it.
