Blue Eyes came over Wednesday night and showed me why he is worth the wait.
Ooh baby! We watched a movie and then he slept over.
But, as I learned many a time during my marriage, kids have radar. Pumpkinhead gets up every morning around 6 a.m., leaves his room in the main house and comes outside to the poolhouse to cuddle with me for a little while before I have to get up and get ready. Knowing this, I locked my door last night so that he wouldn’t just barge in. This is a view from the doorway – my bed is behind the unit that the clothes are hanging in – so he can’t see anything from the door, but better to be safe than sorry.

Anyway, Blue Eyes and I are both single parents so we know to be discreet. He only comes over after Pumpkinhead is sound asleep and, if he stays, he leaves before Pumpkinhead wakes up. Last time Pumpkinhead woke up first, he knocked on the door and I told him to go back inside and I’d meet him. A quick goodbye kiss for Blue Eyes and then I went in to the main house for cuddle time and Blue Eyes slipped away unnoticed. This morning, however, Pumpkinhead got up at 3 a.m. I took him back to bed and he was fine. But then he got up at 5:30 a.m. and started beating on the door. Scared the living daylights out of both of us. I leapt out of bed and ran to open the door, tripping over one of the gazillion boxes of books in my room, and went flying. Smashed up my knee and apparently either badly sprained or broke my toe. It hurt sooooo bad. I limped outside and told Pumpkinhead I’d hurt myself and to wait for me inside and then went back in and collapsed into Blue Eyes’ arms for a comfort hug. That’s when my DAD busted in (!!!) to see what was wrong (Pumpkinhead must have told him I was hurt). Blue Eyes nosedived under the covers to hide and fortunately I managed to thwart Dad off with a strangled, “I’m okay, just fell and need a second. I’ll be right there” before Dad could get too far into the room. Of course, Murphy’s Law, Blue Eyes, too, tripped over the box on his way out and then left his shoes on the top of my car (busted!) in his exhausted confusion. What a way to start the day. LOL! Oh, and my parents said that Pumpkinhead was also up at 4:30, but they sent him back to bed. See… radar!

(Swollen ankle and broken/sprained toe, now wrapped to help me walk)
