Only one more week of freedom - wah! That said, I’m actually kind of looking forward to going back. I’ve been losing my mind at home (duh) and am really excited about my class schedule for this fall - Torts, Legal Negotiations and Anti-Corruption Law. Not so excited that the anti-corruption teacher decided to assign two books, one of which we have to read in full and one of which we have to read several chapters of before class starts on the 26th. Ack! Still, it should be a great class. And negotiations should be helpful because that is a skill I lack.

Pumpkinhead is also heading off to school. Yep, my baby starts kindergarten the same day I go back to school. I can’t believe it!! I registered him yesterday and we have to go this weekend to buy school supplies, a non-rolling backpack (school rule - WTF?!?), clothes and tennis shoes. He tested today and the teachers were blown away by his reading skills. My little smartie. Now if only his behavior matched his reading level… I am planning to put him in a karate school’s aftercare program because I think that the male role models will be good and also that he’ll appreciate learning the sport and the discipline/self-control that is taught. I hope so anyway.

Nothing new from Chapin. Activated a new credit card he got (per his instructions) and made a cash advance into the joint account to pay his car payment. He got a letter from his company today saying come back by August 19 or you’re fired. Hmmm… I called but he wouldn’t answer me.

I asked Pumpkinhead if he’s feeling worried about anything. He said, “Yes, Daddy.” Sigh… I told him that Daddy loves him very much and that it’s normal to worry about someone when they aren’t nearby but that Daddy is safe with his Mommy and Daddy and that he misses Pumpkinhead, too. My poor baby. I told him we’d rent a DVD and have cuddle/movie night tomorrow.

Saturday I’m going out with Blue Eyes to see Tropic Thunder. I could use a good laugh. Now I’m off to listen to some Pearl Jam and read one of the bazillion books next to my bed.
