Someone drank the other five of my six beers. My nanny disappeared for several days without telling me and I almost left Pumpkinhead alone sleeping in bed (bad Mommy!). Pumpkinhead has to have ear tubes placed and his adenoids removed and I’m going to have to haul ass and get it done before Chapin returns from Guatemala (he is 100% against removing anything but, for one, I have full legal right to make medical decisions under our agreement and, for another, the ENT says that Pumpkinhead has sleep apnea because his adenoids are so large and the tonsils flop over and cover what little breathing room is left). My poor baby! Circus this weekend for Pumpkinhead’s birthday. Court date Monday. I’m ready but I could sure have used that beer. Anyone who thinks that divorce is easy for the person who wants it is dead wrong. It’s scary and sad and seriously disappointing. Sigh…

The nanny has been given her notice and she’s actually started to move stuff out. But this not showing up/not calling thing made me so mad. She called me today but, of course, was nowhere to be found when I got home. She’s still not home so I can’t kick her ass to the curb.

You have got to get the nanny out of your house! (I’m assuming Pumpkinhead didn’t drink the beers.) Poor little guy, I hope everything goes well. We have contrmplated removing one of my girlies ginormous tonsils, but I also have issues with giving up body parts. Have fun at the circus!

Ear tubes are no biggie – I know I’m not supposed to say that about a little kid’s medical anything, but it really is so simple and so quick. I went to the bathroom after handing Landon to the surgeon and when I came back she was carrying him out of the OR. And he felt great after a little nap – played and babbled all afternoon.
The adenoids we haven’t personally experienced (yet!) but my little cousin (age 6) just had his out and it changed his life in ways they didn’t even realize were affected! He started sleeping SO much better and stopped getting sick and was just healthier in general- they didn’t realize his sleep was being so affected. He did feel kind of bad for a couple days, ate lots of popsicles and jello, but he came to our house during Easter about a week later and you never would have guessed he’d just had surgery.
Good luck with everything- hopefully soon you’ll have a long stretch of medical-free days (maybe even weeks and months!) to just relax and rejuvenate. Or as much as you can do those things while working full time, raising a child, and going to law school!
