Different Answers?

30 Jun

Had a little cry session with my Mom today and I think we’ve figured out some different ideas.

1. Fire nanny and put Pumpkinhead in YMCA day camp from 9 – 4:30 weekdays
2. Clear house of contents into nearby storage facility
3. Put house on market
4. Send Chapin out of the country for a month’s vacation as planned
5. Go to court July 21 to finalize divorce (date/time set with attorney today)
6. Move Pumpkinhead and I in with my parents, with pool room as our mini-kitchen/living area and a sleeping area in the house.
7. When Chapin returns, pull his furniture out of storage for his apartment.
8. Get neighborhood zoning approval to build second floor addition on poolroom to add bedrooms/bathroom upstairs and redo main floor to add in kitchen area.
9. Pumpkinhead and I would live in poolroom apartment for the next year or three until I am done with school. My parents live walking distance from elementary school. We would find a regular evening babysitter to help out one night a week when my parents are at church choir practice and Chapin would commit to 1-2 other nights/week plus Sunday afternoon/evening after church to watch Pumpkinhead.

Summer school — I spoke with the Dean and she thinks she may be able to make a case for me to get a medical withdrawal from my first class. If she can pull that (instead of the incomplete), I will be able to return my full financial aid package and will be able to put off classes until mid-August. Please, please, please!!! If not, she is going to help me switch to a class that is a bit less demanding for the last part of the summer. The professor for the class that starts next week cold calls on class members and the reading is very heavy. So I’m waiting to hear back from her tomorrow.

I hope this all works out. I really can’t take on a new house without live-in help unless I give up law school. I can put up with my parents as long as they can put up with Pumpkinhead’s rambunctiousness. Hopefully we can build the addition quickly before we drive each other crazy. ;)

The Dean tells me that I have the option of withdrawing from my second summer class. BUT I would have to return all summer aid to the lender and pay out-of-pocket for the first class. Damn it. I figured that was the answer. After three weeks of unpaid time off work and facing a $500 hospital admission deductible, I cannot possibly do that. So it looks like I am facing six weeks of Administrative Law starting Monday. Better get off the drugs quickly and start reading!! I also need to get to Kinkos to cut my book (thanks to Dicta for the good advice many moons ago) so that I can handle the weightload of my laptop and the reading assignment in a small bag with my injured belly.

I think I’m going to drop down to two classes in the fall. I’m still not sure. I just don’t know that I can handle three, especially if we’re trying to sell the house and move and everything. Pumpkinhead will need me and I need to get home by his bedtime to see him. If I take three classes, I won’t end until 9 p.m. most nights which means getting home at 9:45. :( I can’t count on Chapin to maintain a consistent visitation schedule so I need to be the reliable one.

Friday is July 4. Duh. I have an appointment now for Thursday morning with my surgeon to have the staples removed. Hopefully it will be a bit more healed by then. Right now the entrance points are red and tender.

I need to go see my neighbors. We replaced the fences right before i went into the hospital. I arrived home to a large bill from the neighbor who purchased all the lumber and now I have to go see my other neighbor to get them to pony up half of the funds due. Hopefully they will do it quickly and painlessly so I’m not on the hook for that sizeable bill.

Since I’m home this week, I think I need to go ahead and ask our real estate agent to come out and take pictures. The longer we wait to put the house on the market, the less likely it will sell. Hopefully my Dad can come by and help me move some crap out and into his poolroom.
