Note to self: Heed the warning labels
I’m one of those people who takes warning labels with a grain of salt, figuring they are over-blowing things due to fear of litigation. Apparently this is not the case with the Cymbalta warning: “Do NOT drink alcohol while on this medication.” I figured that was because it’s another CNS depresser and would make me sleepy so I took my beer home to the safety of my bedroom where I wouldn’t be out doing anything crazy on the roads. After only two bottles of Corona, I woke up last night around 4 a.m. in severe stomach pain. It appears the warning was for more than sleepiness. OW!! Now every sip of fluid I take hits my stomach and causes serious pain like it’s hitting an open wound. I’m figuring my little surgically constructed stomach pouch must be nicely ulcerated from the Corona/Cymbalta combo. Geez. I know, I did it to myself. But in case anyone else out there is taking this drug and ignoring the warnings, perhaps they should think twice.
I’m drinking my Lactose-free milk, eating Rolaids and praying that the pain goes away.

Yikes! Drugs scare me . . . I only take Advil and Tylenol PM! And even that scares me!

I’m the same way with warning labels…and even medical advice. I guess lawyers tend to think in terms of future lawsuits….
