Technologically Thwarted
A cautionary tale of why it’s important to pay attention to the small details!
Sitting in my home office, trying to study for exams.
Using school VPN to pull up library material.
Realize my office is suspiciously quiet.
Look up at printer and see no paper in the tray.
Refill paper tray.
Waiting…
Pushing printer buttons.
Waiting…
Checking printer connections.
Waiting.
Yep, all my print jobs (quickly dashed off in a large batch, back-to-back) have gone to a school-networked printer and the law school is a good hour’s drive round-trip.
CRAP. ![]()
Re-tracing my electronic steps.
Printing to my local printer (which will probably take a good chunk of the time it would take to just drive to school and get the damn printouts!).

Total crapola. I hope you find your print jobs. In the meantime, I’m losing my mind for the next few weeks, but after that (starting the beginning of June) I’ll have tons of time on my hands - do you want me to contribute a blog post from time to time?

Let me give you an empathy e-hug - I’ve DONE that! Good luck retracing your steps!

Bummer–but I have totally done that before. Of course crap like this happens when you are the most stressed and rushed. Hope you can pull it all together again quickly.

You’re a sweetie pie!
You are always welcome to blog for me. I’d love it! But then people might think I’m actually developing a sharp wit and my former intelligence is returning! Not bloody likely…
Butterflyfish and I would probably jump at the chance to have you as a third member of the roundup… but you’re about to lose your MILS status.
I hate that!! Zuska, LC, From Engineer to Lawyer — all the good ones lost their MILS status right when we started.

Don’t you just hate those default print settings? You’re better off than me though. I’ve gone through two home printers in law school and both have broken within months of purchase so I’m stuck driving to the LS any time
I want to print anything.

I’ve done this so many times and I don’t even have my own printer….! duh, lol….law school brain
