Think you do badly; you do better than you thought. Think you do well, you bomb. I totally got a bad grade on my second final. DAMN DRUGS!!!
This neurologist better have some solution for me today that doesn’t involve another semester of Vicodin and other mind-altering drugs. My study partner says she thinks they just throw the papers and then drop letters on top of each pile of papers and go with that.
The curse is real

That bites, but you can definitely recover. Do talk to your prof–especially if you are likely to have to same one next semester. I talked to all profs after 1st semester grades, ’cause that’s how geeky I am, but it will help if you can review your exam and see where your mistakes were. Also, I think it helps you get to know your profs a little better, so they will cut you a little slack when you need it.
I hope your docs get your meds worked out and that things pick up next semester.

I just had the exact same experience…
Walking out of my Federal Income Tax Final I was excited b/c I answered all of the questions and I thought I had them right. I actually enjoyed taking this exam…the grade came out a few weeks ago and it was a C-!
I couldn’t believe it…
Conversely, there were times where I thought I absolutely failed the exam and got a B (which is good in my book)…
I’m sure there are many others in the same boat!

You’re right, Shelley. I think I will meet with him, as embarassing as that is, because unlike the other test where I knew what I did wrong, I’m really clueless here.

I’m so sorry. As painful as it might be, maybe you could approach the professor and figure out why you didn’t do as well as you thought?

I’m with New Duck, even though expect to see a lot more venting exactly like yours over at my place in the coming weeks. And I don’t even have a “good” reason like mind-altering meds or a full time job like you do!
Hugs, and it WILL be ok

That totally sucks. I hate law school. If it makes you feel better, fall semester of my 2L year I got a D+ and a C after my mom was diagnosed with cancer a week before finals. And I think I’ve left this same comment for several other MILS, so you’re definitely not alone! In the short term, the grades will hurt, but in the long term, they don’t mean a thing. Hang in there!

I’m sorry the grade was so far from your feelings about the exam. And I do think the papers dropped in piles method is frequently used to grade 1L exams…
