Getting over it
Can’t sleep. I’m totally exhausted but this new medication is working on my brain and i can almost feel it tingling so I got back out of bed, took a shower and came downstairs to watch TV. Anyway, I was thinking and here’s the thing. I’ve only taken four classes so far. We’re ranked against the 2008 entering class so our competition hasn’t even arrived yet! I just need to try to get this illness under control so I can buckle down and do well during this spring, summer and fall so that by the time rankings come out next spring, I am in a much better spot than I am right now. And I found out that there are at least two journals with no grade minimums for the write on competition so I can bust my ass to try to win a spot on those (and kill myself trying to keep the spot if I get it!).
Thanks for listening. I’m a “sweat the small stuff”, control freak kind of girl so you’ll probably see the prior post repeated again several times before I graduate. ![]()

Umm, yeah! That’s why we have blogs. Wait til you see my post when my 4 credit bus. ass. grade comes in. She has threatened to FAIL four people. Terrified I am one of them, definitely not gonna be above the curve anyway, and with the Family Law and . . .
you get it? You wouldn’t be a law student if you weren’t a sweat the small stuff kind of person.
Plus you work in an environment where the prestige/high grade/journal thing is so reinforced that its hard to see there are other ways to be successful (and I don’t mean in a public interest-doing good, felling-good way. I know you’re goals). I know, I suffer from the same kind of tunnell-vision-grade-blinders.
I don’t know the answers, but I am searching with you, and we’re smart, creative wimmins. We’ll work it out.
Feel free to copy and paste this comment on my blog during my next freak out. **hugs**

Is there a reason you want to be on a journal? I was on a journal (not “the” law journal) in LS, and in the end (1) I don’t think it did anything for me in terms of helping me find a job since most places only cared if it was “the” law journal and (2) it actually took up a LOT of time. I definitely learned more bluebooking doing journal than any or my legal writing classes, if that’s what you’re looking for, but I would almost say that you should just dedicate that time to your classes instead.

Hey — not like you to NOT post for several days in a row without warning. Not that we, as your auidience, are starved for your attention… just worried about ya. Hope all is well.

PT-LawMom, where are you? You should relax, enjoy any time you get off, and not worry about your readers… but we miss you! You’re usually so diligent about posting, so I hope everything is okay with you. If you need anything, if there’s anything I can do to help, let me know! My e-mail is ka4037 at yahoo.
p.s. - I bake a really mean chocolate chip cookie. If you’re desperate, send me your info and I’ll send you some in the mail.

Don’t do journal! It’s not fun, the people who do it are toolbags, and it’s only marginally helpful! I mean - if you want to work at a huge firm, it’s helpful, but if your plan is to han gup your shingle or work at a smaller firm, don’t do it! (Did I mention the people who do it are big toolbags? Avoiding them should be reason enough to avoid it! At all costs!!!)
