One grade in, one to go

05 Jan

I didn’t bomb! As devastated as I was, I didn’t do as badly as I thought. My study partner got a her grade and called me to see what I received. I hadn’t even checked! Amazingly enough, even though she was much more prepared than I was, I got a better grade. I know it’s not stellar, but I feel really relieved… and a bit concerned about what this means for my other class. If I thought I bombed and I actually did okay, then does that mean the converse will happen in the class where I thought I did well? I’m keeping everything crossed for a higher grade in my other class. This whole grade thing really does seem like a crapshoot!

Shrek the Third Giveaway

05 Jan

I just received a Swiffer Vac in the mail to try today and there was a free copy of Shrek the Third in the box! We already own a copy so I thought, why not have a little giveaway? Leave me a comment about something you love to do with your child that you never thought you would enjoy or do and I’ll pick a winner early next week.

Weekly MILS Roundup #26

05 Jan

Last week’s roundup is up at A Little Fish in Law School. I’m posting a week late because I was on vacation, but I will be posting #27 tomorrow.

The Weekly MILS (Moms In Law School) Roundup is the brainchild of Saramel (retired). It is hosted on a rotating basis at the PT-LawMom and A Little Fish in Law School blogs and is usually posted no later than Monday morning. The next MILS Roundup will be back here tomorrow.

Dawn Direct Foam

05 Jan

Right before Christmas, I received a package of Dawn Direct Foam in the mail to try in place of my normal dish soap. Lazy girl that I am, I don’t really handwash dishes very often. But this box arrived the night I was doing my big cookie bake and needed to wash dishes between batches. I have to say that I was really impressed with it! You put one pump of foam onto a sponge and they claim it cleans a whole sink of dishes. I found that to be almost true. I probably used 2-3 pumps to get a huge bowl, some cookie trays, beaters, etc., clean. I liked the smell and was impressed with how quickly/easily the soap rinsed off. I usually use Palmolive and have to rinse a lot to clean all of the soap off. This was a lot quicker and I think I will probably purchase it when this trial bottle runs out (in about three months because, as I said, I RARELY wash dishes by hand).

Health update

05 Jan

On the downside, I should NOT have drank while on vacation. I didn’t drink a lot — maybe two drinks a day. I messed up my medication routine because I didn’t want to take the medication with alcohol (i.e., didn’t take my third daily dose so I could drink in the evening or took the pill much later in the morning than normal because I slept in). My arms and legs are absolutely killing me and even the slightest fabric touch hurts like my skin is sunburned (it’s not). I have switched neurologists and have an appointment with the head of neurology at a large local medical center on Monday. They doubled my medication right before finals and although the pain lessened some, the tingling and numbness is constant. I’m pretty scared about what this means and hope that I can get some answers and a long-term plan. I barely want to sit here and type because my hands hurt so much. Thanks for listening to my little pity party. Please send positive thoughts that this new neurologist will take me seriously and have some good answers for me.

Back from vacation

05 Jan

Drank a few beers, danced with my husband, played games with my child and relaxed. It was a wonderful vacation. I listened to Shopaholic and Baby by Sophie Kinsella on my new iPod Nano. I love the whole Shopaholic series (so funny!!!) and have listened to them all on my various MP3 players. I had canceled my Audible subscription for a while (no time!), but signed up again to get $100 off the iPod. I really like it and it will make listening to my Sum and Substance cds so much easier because, unlike the Shuffle, I can actually figure out which section I’m hearing.

Anyway, we figured out that Pumpkinhead seems to always get creamed on Chutes and Ladders, but he whips everyone on Candyland. It’s so fun to see him happily playing… not so fun to see him throw a fit when he loses. Still, we had a blast together. Chapin and I went dancing on New Year’s Eve and then got Pumpkinhead from the sitter just before midnight for the countdown. On New Year’s Day, we took a horse-drawn carriage ride around a beautiful village by the sea. We got some great family photos and made some wonderful memories. I think we need to try to take this same vacation again sometime. Definitely relaxing!
