Best-laid plans
Last night I came home after staying an hour late at work with every intention of eating dinner and heading straight up to my office to work on my Contracts outline. While eating, I decided to watch my DVR’d copy of Ugly Betty. I figured it would go fast since I was skipping commercials. Then I decided it couldn’t hurt to also watch Grey’s Anatomy. After that, I thought I should check my e-mail. Of course there was an e-mail from someone telling me that my cute new blog theme wasn’t rendering right on a Mac (I have a Mac. How I didn’t notice before, I’m not sure!) So I wasted an hour trying to fix that and then was so tired I had to crash. This morning, I was raring to go again but I knew I had errands to run. I needed to get my two back tires fixed (they both had holes!), pick up gifts for my niece and nephew, and shop for items for our long road trip. But did I roll out of the house at 8:30 as planned? Nooooo. Again, I “had” to check my e-mail which then led to a search for new blog themes that would work on a Mac and a PC. I think I finally found one and it only took me two hours.
Pumpkinhead and I finally left the house around 10:45. We pulled into Sears and dropped off our keys. A haircut, lunch, some clothes shopping and a Starbucks stop later and we were back at Sears. It was 1:30.
Of course, I still had to swing by Sam’s. Gas there was wicked cheap (woo-hoo!) and we managed to only forget three things there. 45 minutes later, we were back in the car and off to the grocery store (because a girl just can’t buy EVERYTHING in bulk). Another hour later, we were armed with everything we needed (except pencils. Pumpkinhead wanted “real” pencils, not colored pencils, and he made sure I heard about it!)
Anyway, we finally made it home around 5 p.m., had to unload the groceries, make dinner, and then Chapin wanted “quality time” with me.
Now it’s almost 6:30 and I’m finally in front of my computer waiting while months of class notes print out next to me. I think I’m going to tackle my outline by highlighting key points on each day and going back to the post-case questions/notes where the professor mentioned them to add more info. I have a tendency to just refer to a page/question number in my notes when the professor does that so I can keep up with the conversation. My Yo-Yo Ma cd is playing on iTunes and I’m ready to get rolling. Wish me luck and great productivity!
P.S. Meds finally kicking in. Tingling down and the world is spinning less. ![]()

Another option (which I used last semester) is if you are Barnes and Noble Member, you can see if they have the books you need and you get 10% off i believe (which is a good chunk off of a $100+ book). I also went through ebates to do it which give you 3% of your purchase price back in cash. That is if you really want to have a brand new book…of course they are always cheapest used…
as an aside…i am so glad i found your blog…i realize there are others out there like me ( i work full time, have an 18 month old and am in my 3rd year of law school at night) who only get studying done at night and most times are too tired once night rolls around to even do that…
