For those of you who have been following fellow Law School Mom LagLiv’s horrifying saga this week, it has taken a horrible turn this morning as child protective services have removed Landon from their home and it could be as long as 45 days before he is returned. Baby Landon has been in the hospital for 8 days now (in protective custody, not because he needed to be there) and, as you can imagine, the medical bills for that will likely be staggering. Not to mention the legal bills from the impending fight! I know many of you have been tracking this journey and are surely as sad for the family as I am. I just cannot imagine what I would do if I were in their shoes and someone was threatening to take my sweet child away from me. I’d probably lose it completely, so I really admire them for trying to keep calm during this ordeal and handle things rationally. At this point, though, I’m sure they’re done.
If anyone would like to contribute something to help the family during this difficult time, I’ve spoken with PayPal (and have included the text of the email they sent me below) and you can send it to her email at LagLiv@gmail.com. She doesn’t have a PayPal account currently registered with them using that address, but PayPal assures me that when you send the money, it will notify her, she can set up the account at her leisure, and the funds will be instantly available. I just wanted to do something to help and, since others mentioned they’d be interested in the comments to her post last night, I thought I’d take the bull by the horns. I figured this way we can start taking action and, when she’s ready and needs the money, she can go claim it. I’m on my way to PayPal to make the first donation right now.
EDITED TO SAY: Now that I’ve sent them some money, I can tell you that once you send the money your PayPal account will tell you the status (unclaimed/claimed) and it gives you a CANCEL button to allow you to stop the transaction for any reason prior to that time.
“To send money to someone who does not have a PayPal account, enter the recipient’s email address in the box provided. The recipient will receive an email notification of your payment. After clicking the link in the email, the recipient can sign up for a new account. The money will immediately appear in the recipient’s account balance.”

You are so wonderful to do this for them. The entire thing makes me physically ill. I can’t even begin to imagine the horror they must be going through. Heading over to PayPal right now…..
