Changing tides?

12 Jul

Reading about this firm, I wish I lived in California or Ohio! Not sure if the reality is as nice, but it sure sounds good!

Lawyers can be good with words, and it’s a fairly simple task to write impressive mission statements about being different. What counts is whether what we do is different in a way that benefits you.

Three examples:

“I know, I know, we’re $35 million over what you thought you’d spend – but be honest, isn’t this a whole lot nicer than that 4 bedroom colonial you talked about?”
No surprises

What if authors were paid by the hour? For one thing, most books would look like this [HUGE BOOK PICTURE!].
Reward accomplishment, not hours

“…hmmmm…they want me to lead this project?”
Trained Attorneys

Why are we so dedicated to being a law firm “different in kind” from those you have encountered in the past? Because our goal is to be your trusted partner — a partner you can rely on to solve your problems and enhance your business.

You’ll enjoy working with us. We promise.

Progress on student loan reform

12 Jul

The House of Representatives has passed a bill to overhaul student loans which includes halving interest rates. Yay! Hope it gets all the way through and becomes law! Now can they just get universities (and law schools!!) to stop charging so much that people can’t afford to take public interest positions? Especially in light of articles like this one. :???:
