As I work daily with international students and scholars your points are so on the mark in my opinion. I commend you for having such an open mind to the world. Far too many people do not realize (or like it when they do realize) that not everyone is the same BUT that is good! After all, why would we all want to be the same?

Thanks! My sweet DH is in the middle of the immigration limbo. I'm so thankful to hear from someone who isn't out to demonize him, criminalize him, and send him back to his home country. All he wants is to support me (I'm a US citizen, by the way - family immigrated in 1722 - before there was a USA!) and our two lovely children.

We've been jumping through hoops for six years now.

 Brava!! I'm proud of you for standing up to the negativity and the people who spew it. Folks, look back into your own ancestry. Mine is Irish. My ancestors came shortly after the Potato Famine and settled in New York. They took jobs that at that time were considered lowest of the low... cops and firemen. And yet they stayed. And yes, while they did obtain legal citizenship quickly, it was EASIER to do it then. They didn't have to pay thousands of dollars in fees and they didn't have families to support back home and the government didn't hold them in limbo for years and years. So folks, have a little love. Think about the people/families, not the group at large. I think you'll find individuals who want the same things you do. Home, food, security, a better life for their children. Scary, eh?
