Immigration judge to expedite case of detained children in Texas
The immigration judge assigned to the ACLU case against the Hutto detention facility has said he will fast-track the case so that the issue can be resolved quickly. This is great news for the children detained there who are locked up for hours on end with very restricted play time, no privacy in their cells and no toys to play with. It breaks my heart to think about it. The ACLU brought this case on the grounds that the conditions inside Hutto violate numerous provisions of Flores v. Meese, a 1997 court settlement that established minimum standards and conditions for the housing and release of all minors in federal immigration custody.
